Have you seen the latest commercial for TUMS? It features a montage of shots showcasing traditional and spicy party dishes served at football viewing parties (and a few shots of guys dressed in pads and helmets), then at the very end of the cleverly edited smorgasbord shots, a tiny TUMS is displayed in the middle of the TV screen.
Trust me, the recipes I’m sharing with you today won’t require purchasing a bottle TUMS to ingest post-gorge… unless you eat all of the dishes by yourself. The following party recipes make a great addition to a Pro Bowl or Super Bowl viewing party. They are simple to make, relatively affordable and don’t require utensils to eat.
CHICKEN POCKETS
Ingredients:
2 packages refrigerated crescent rolls
1/2 cup chopped red pepper
1 cup chopped frozen broccoli, thawed
2 tablespoons chopped scallions
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup cooked diced chicken
1 can cream of chicken soup
4 tablespoons sour cream
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, whisk together soup with sour cream, garlic salt and pepper. Mix in red pepper, broccoli, scallions, cheese and chicken.
Place crescent rolls on a cookie sheet.
Scoop 1 to 2 tablespoons of chicken mixture on top of triangles. Roll up.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve warm.
PEPPERONI POCKETS
Ingredients:
12 Rhodes White Frozen Texas Rolls
1 cup pizza sauce
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
One package of pepperoni
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll out each roll into a circle.
Place some pizza sauce in the middle. Top with cheese and pepperoni.
Fold over filling to the middle and pinch seams to seal.
Spray baking sheet with PAM cooking spray. Place rolls on a baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
