There is one thing you definitely need when starting a scrapbook project: paper. One of my favorite scrapbook paper lines is Basic Grey. In my opinion, they have created some of the most beautiful, unique patterned paper available. I love the rich colors, patterns and quality of their paper.
Basic Grey currently had twelve paper lines, but they will be releasing five new paper lines next week at the Craft and Hobby Association Trade show in Las Vegas. In addition to releasing the new paper lines, they are also going to be offering ribbon and metal embellishments. (I found this information on their website.) I am very excited to see what great new ideas they have come up with.
The quality of this paper is better than many of the other patterned papers available. It is a thick 65 lb. paper that can easily be the base paper for any layout because of the sturdiness. Before I used Basic Grey’s paper, I thought of patterned paper as very lightweight and flimsy. For a couple of years I even stopped using patterned paper on my layouts because I just couldn’t find anything that was beautiful enough for me to want to use it. Now pattern paper has returned to my layouts and I love how it adds so much to the project.
They also sell several items that coordinate perfectly with their paper such as fibers, letter stickers, tags, monogram letters, and mini matchbook albums. Here are a couple of examples of how I have used the monogram letters in layouts. The San Diego layout also shows the letter stickers.
If you love scrapbooking or you are just getting interested in the hobby, I recommend checking out Basic Grey, I’m sure you will not be disappointed.
