Product Review: Hallmark Birth Announcements

Last week I had the opportunity to test out Hallmark’s new Personalized Baby Announcements. According to Hallmark, all you have to do is visit Hallmark.com/baby, pick your favorite design, and customize the announcement with your baby’s photo and your personal message. You’re supposed to be able to finish your announcements in the amount of time it takes for your baby to take a nap, with time to spare. To put the service to the test, I enlisted the help of a friend, Danielle, who recently had a baby boy.

The selection of templates to choose from was pretty good. The designs were contemporary and there was a lot of variety in size and style. Danielle decided on a two sided, flat card that had space for a main photo on the front, as well as a small photo on the back. There were also three text areas, which allowed us to customize the card quite a bit. We were able to change the font, font size and color of each text box.

Adding photos and text was really simple. All we had to do was click the area we wanted to change and a basic menu would appear. The upload tool for photos was quick and easy. Once the photos were uploaded, it was not hard to adjust the crop or color. The hardest part of the whole customization process was choosing a photo and deciding what to say on the announcement.

Once we finished designing the announcement, we had the option of having it mailed directly to Danielle’s friends and family or having them all sent to Danielle to mail herself. Even though Danielle chose to have the cards mailed to herself to address on her own, she was still able to have the envelopes printed with her return address, free of charge. That is a real time saver!

If you would like to try out Hallmark’s new birth announcements, Hallmark has been gracious enough to provide a discount promo for 20% off of any order from Hallmark.com’s Personalized Baby Announcements collection. Enter code BABY20 at checkout.

(I was given a gift card for Hallmark.com in order to review this service/product. Screen shots are taken from Hallmark.com. Photos used for the announcements were taken by me.)
