Okay, multi-cat households: this one’s for you. Purina’s Tidy Cats litter is running a contest called the Campaign to End Cattiness.
The concept behind the contest is simple: if you live in a multi-cat household, it’s time to show the world that you’re not just a crazy cat person. Through stories and pictures, you can demonstrate that sharing your home with more than one cat makes life better! But be concise — you’ve only got 175 words and two pictures to tell your story. (For comparison, the average blog post here at Families.com is 300 words or more. So you’ve got less than a blog post to make your case.)
The prizes are pretty sweet — one grand prize winner and ten finalists will be chosen. The grand prize winner (and his or her cats) will star in an online episode of Tidy Cats Cribs… and a cool five thousand dollars. That buys a lot of kitty toys! The ten finalists will each receive a one-year supply of Tidy Cats Scoop litter — a clay litter designed for easy clean up.
While you’re entering the contest, be sure to check out cat care tips from Dr. Pia Salk (interestingly enough, she’s related to Jonas Salk who invented the polio vaccine). Dr. Salk comes from a three-cat household, so she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to cat wrangling. Her tips cover everything from keeping home smelling fresh to dealing with territory battles between your kitties.
The contest ends September 11, 2009 and is open to residents of the United States over the age of eighteen who have two or more cats.
Voting for the winners begins on or around September 25, 2009. They already have close to 60 entries featured on the Campaign to End Cattiness website, so you can start browsing for your favorites now. And let us know if you enter… good luck!
