Putting the Disney Back Into “Disney” Stores

It’s about darned time. While the money magazines may speculate that a consumer slowdown isn’t the time for The Walt Disney Company to go back into the retail chain business, as a consumer, I can’t wait. I never liked their sale of the chain stores to Children’s Place and I never felt like the stores were the same after.

When you walk into a Disney Store (or as my daughter calls it “The Mouse Store”) you should feel like you are walking in to a piece of Main Street U.S.A. inside one of the parks. But the downsizing of the Disney influence has been felt not only in the products, but in the atmosphere of the stores.

Welcome Back Disney

Disney reacquired their stores after the Children’s Place subsidiary running them filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A lot of the stores are being closed, but I think we’ll see that turn around with Disney involved again (please take note Warner Brothers and the long defunct Warner Brothers Stores). Now, if we could just convince them to send the Disney Catalog again, because that’s another gem I’ve been missing.

Are you happy that Disney is back in the retail chain business?
