Rachael Ray’s Food Going to the Dogs

She’s already gone public admitting that she is more interested in raising “four-legged kids than ones with two legs” so I suppose it should come as no surprise that celebrity chef Rachael Ray is expanding her culinary empire to include gourmet dog food.

The super cook turned TV talk show host just launched a charity-driven line of dog foods based on recipes she has created for her beloved pet pit bull, Isaboo.

The Food Network star is no stranger to designing meals for all types of eaters and she says she has no doubt that your pooch will gobble up her tasty recipes. If that confident plug doesn’t get you to fork over some dough to purchase Ray’s Nutrish pet foods, perhaps learning where your hard earned dollars will be going will serve as extra incentive.

According to the “30 Minute Meals” host, all proceeds from sales of her new dog food will go to Rachael’s Rescue, which she created to help at-risk animals. The devoted dog lover also revealed that some of the dishes she’s selling can be made at home by pet owners who aren’t afraid to “mess around in the kitchen.” (Ray regularly features recipes for pet food in her magazine, Every Day With Rachael Ray, so that readers can make culinary masterpieces for their own fur babies.)

If you barely have enough time to make gourmet dishes for your spouse and children, you might want to stick with buying Ray’s pre-made dog delicacies. By doing so the star chef says you will be helping to make a difference in the lives of needy animals.

Ray recently announced the first beneficiary of her charitable foundation–a terrier mix named Spirit that made national news a few weeks ago after a man was caught on videotape brutally beating it at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The malnourished dog suffered serious injuries in the incident, including numerous fractures. Shortly after the video surfaced Rachael’s Rescue offered to cover all medical costs for the dog’s recovery. Ray says the pooch will need reconstructive surgery in addition to ongoing physical therapy in the months to come.

Up next for the woman who is seemingly everywhere-—a line of Nutrish foods designed especially for cats.
