Rain, rain, go away! Children chant this little ditty when the rain comes to spoil their fun. But, there are ways to keep kids entertained indoors.
Tub Time
You have probably heard many different ideas, but this one might surprise you. Since the kids can’t play in the pool, get them into their bathing suits and let them play in the tub!
Explain that they cannot overdo the splashing and get the floor all wet. Still, it is a good idea to lay some extra towels in front of the tub. Let the kids bring a few pool toys into the tub. For even more fun, pick up some colored bath foam and some bath crayons.
Your kids will have a blast with the foam and they can give each other “tattoos” with the crayons.
Silly String Inside?
Okay, you are about to become the coolest parent on the block. What parent lets kids play with Silly String inside? If you’re thinking about the mess or harm to interior elements, don’t worry.
Start by choosing an area that has plenty of open space. Cover the floor and furnishings with old sheets, or better yet, with plastic shower curtain liners. Your kids will giggle and have a great time playing with Silly String in the house. You might end up getting attacked and having to join in.
When the Silly String is all gone, roll up sheets or liners and take them outside. Shake over a trashcan, and the mess is instantly gone and in the trash where it belongs.
If that idea is a little over the top for you, seat the children on a sheet or shower curtain liner and give them objects from around the house to coat or “decorate” with Silly String. It comes in lots of fun colors and will keep your children entertained for hours.
