Raspberry Water – A Cool and Refreshing Alternative

Do you drink the recommended 6 to 8 glasses of water a day? Do you drink a half-ounce of water per pound of body weight? Do you look at water and wrinkle your nose because water treatment has long since removed the refreshing taste of water for you? Would you rather drink a soda than a glass a water because frankly, soda tastes better despite the fact that you know it’s not as good for you as water is?

Flavored water may be just the alternative you have been waiting for. I’ve found flavored water more and more often at grocery stores and other refrigerator offerings in places like Target, Wal-mart and more. The two largest brand names providing flavored water include Dasani and Aquafina. You can get lemon water, raspberry water and even strawberry water and more. The flavored water is sweetened with Splenda and so if you are not fond of the substance, this may not be for you.

Healthy Alternatives

Most soda, even diet soda is full of caffeine and doesn’t provide enough water for your body. Whereas drinking flavored water, even with the Splenda in it, does. I actually like the raspberry water a great deal, but my daughter prefers the lemon water flavor. You can get water that is lightly carbonated so that it’s like having fizzy water or sparkling water rather than just a flat drink.

Either way, it’s a matter of preference and taste and the more water you drink the better for your overall health and diet. So the next time you are out shopping or making a pit stop at a store while running errands and you’re thirsty – consider getting a bottle of flavored water rather than a soda – oh and one great thing about the flavored waters, even the lightly carbonated ones – they don’t taste nasty when they get flat and you can put them back in the fridge for later.

Have you tried any flavored waters?
