Have you wondered if you are living up to your potential? This is something that we often hear as kids from our parents and teachers. Later, as we are all caught up with trying to pay the bills each month or running the kids to school and soccer practice, the idea of living up to our potential falls to the wayside.
Although we may not have thought of this idea in years, it bears consideration. Are you living to your full potential? If not, why? Common reasons are money, lack of education or opportunity, poor health and an unsupportive spouse or family.
Yoga helps us learn to stop focusing on what we lack and begin to focus on abundance. Rather than focusing on a lack of time or a lack of money to explain why we haven’t reached our full potential, try focusing on what we do have, abundance over lacking and strength over weakness.
The negative thoughts in the mind are often responsible for failure to reach potential. The majority of people have that negative voice in their heads telling them all the reasons they can’t follow their dreams or express the true potential. Fear is a powerful thing and has the potential to stop you from doing what you most want to do or what you were meant to do on this planet.
Yoga and meditation are tools that can help you overcome the fear and quiet the negative voice in your head.
Yoga and meditation can also help you learn to stop focusing on what you lack in your life and begin to focus on abundance. From the standpoint of lacking, nothing seems possible. However, when you look through a lens of abundance, everything seems possible.
Yoga is much more than exercise. Yoga is a transformative practice that can help you overcome the factors that are standing in your way. Once the obstacles you have created in your life are removed, there is nothing you can’t do.
In some yoga classes and in the practice of meditation, you can set an intention. Learning to set a positive intention that will help you overcome your fears and reach for your dream can be a life changing experience. Give it a try!
