While looking for resources about reading through the entire Bible in a year I came across a great website. The website is called “Read the Bible in a Year by E-mail.”
The website is free to use. You sign-up using your email address and then you choose a few basic options.
Choose a starting date. Are you going on vacation next week? That is ok because you can set the program to start at any time.
Choose a version of the Bible. You can choose from several versions of the Bible including the King James, the American Standard, and the New Kings James. (I personally read the New King James Version.) This option can be changed at any time in your reading schedule.
Choose a schedule style. You can choose to read through the Bible chronologically, from start to finish (i.e. Genesis to Revelation), or alternating between Old and New Testament books. This feature allows the program to fit different personality styles. This is the only option you cannot change when doing the program. The program is not capable of creating a new reading schedule style based on what you have completed in a previous schedule style.
Choose to read through e-mail or through the website. Or use the website to give you a set schedule to read your physical text. You can choose to have the scriptures (for example, Genesis chapters one through four) directly sent to your email address or you can log onto the website every day and read the scriptures there. I like the idea of using it as a preset schedule to let me know what to read everyday. This option can also be changed at any time in your reading schedule.
I like the convenience of having the scriptures emailed directly to me. If the verses are directly emailed to me I certainly cannot use the excuse that I forgot to read one day. Finally one of my favorite things about the website: the “email a friend link.” This link is a simple, easy way to share God’s Word with others.
