Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Speed Racer, Sex and the City or Batman. Which flick are you going to be shelling out $10 for this summer?
Yes, yes, the exciting summer movie season is just a few weeks away and in anticipation of the big event I have been detailing some of the films that have been creating the most buzz before they even appear on the big screen.
Here now are some other viable box office contenders:
MAY 30: “Sex and the City.” When we last saw Carrie Bradshaw and crew four years ago their TV characters were marking major milestones, most notably Carrie and Big’s big reunion. But if you are looking to settle into your seat to view a series of romps in the sack producers say try another theater. Writers maintain that the film will focus more on how the women are dealing with commitment, family and the issue of growing older.
JUNE 6: Two potential blockbusters open on this day. First, “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan.” Adam Sandler is Zohan, an Israeli commando who pretends he’s been killed so he can become a New York City hairdresser. Enough said.
Also, “Kung Fu Panda,” an animated action comedy featuring the voice of Jack Black who plays a chubby panda stuck working at his family’s noodle shop. Salvation comes in the form of a new job as a martial arts master. Kung Fu Panda’s moves come in handy when he is forced to battle an evil snow leopard threatening the land. Other stars lending their voices to the flick are Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, and Lucy Liu.
JUNE 13: “The Incredible Hulk.” Edward Norton stars in the new film about the big green guy who starred in his own line of comic books. Producers say audiences can expect to find out how Norton’s Bruce Banner was transformed into the Hulk very early on in the movie. The rest of the time will be used to unveil power packed action scenes.
JUNE 20: “Get Smart.” This update of the 1960s TV comedy of the same name follows the adventures of Maxwell Smart. Steve Carell plays the bumbling spy in the new movie and the plot thickens when he is paired with veteran operative Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) to try to stop a doomsday scenario by the KAOS crime boss (Terence Stamp). Producers say you can look for a lot of action and loads of laugh.
