Reality TV Star Critically Injured in Plane Crash

He shot to fame as Blink 182’s mega-tattooed drummer and continued to keep his name in the headlines when he allowed MTV to document his marriage to former Miss USA Shanna Moakler on “Meet the Barkers,” now Travis Barker is fighting for his life in a Georgia hospital.

The musician along with popular disc jockey DJ AM (whose real name is Adam Goldstein) are in critical but stable condition after their private jet crashed upon take off from a South Carolina airport late last night.

According to news reports, Barker and Goldstein were the only ones who survived the fiery crash. Local law enforcement officers, who responded to the accident, say four others on board the plane died at the scene.
Federal Aviation Administration officials said the plane was taxing down the runway shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. A few minutes later the plane reportedly sped off a runway and crashed into an embankment on a nearby road.

Hospital staff treating Barker and Goldstein say the men suffered severe burns and were rushed to a burn center in Augusta, Georgia, about 75 miles southwest of Columbia, South Carolina shortly after emergency responders arrived at the scene.

MTV is reporting that Barker performed Friday night at a free concert at a local college alongside former Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell, as well as Gavin DeGraw and Goldstein, but that Farrell and DeGraw were not onboard the plane with Barker and Goldstein, which was reportedly headed back to California.

Federal officials confirmed that two crew members and two passengers were killed in the crash, though the names of the victims were not being released.

Barker is the father of two children with Moakler 4-year-old Landon and 2-year-old Alabama. While Goldstein at one time was engaged to Nicole Richie.
