Recycle This!

Are you ready for a few more simple tips anyone can use to help protect the environment?

In a previous article, there was a tip offering a way to help stop wasting so much paper (and having so much paper clutter), by having more items sent via email instead of through the regular mail. Here are some more ways to avoid wasting paper:

Guess what I’m doing right now? Well, besides typing this article. Okay, I am cutting up little pieces of paper. Yep. I’m cutting up all those notes sent home from school. At least one teacher tries to use half a sheet of paper for a quick note, but they still go through some paper around there! I figured re-using would make it seem a little less wasteful.

My kids usually like to keep some of the colored sheets and use the backs for drawing paper. I then cut whatever is leftover into smaller sections and use a paper clip or a couple staples to hold the stacks together.

Then, I have scratch paper on my desk, near the phone, in my purse, or any other place that I need it, without buying more paper. Gift bags wrapping paper recycle paperLess wasted paper and I save a little money (I write lots of notes).

Another great way to cut down on paper is to re-use those little gift bags. When someone gives you a gift, save the bag (and even the tissue paper if in good condition) and use them next time you need to give a gift. You probably want to avoid giving it back to the same person, but there’s nothing wrong with using it again and passing it along. Also, never write names directly on gift bags, gift boxes, or even wrapping paper when giving gifts, so that the recipients can re-use these items if desired.
