You can redecorate an entire bedroom, especially a child’s room, for under $100.00 and still completely transform the space.
The first step is to change the walls. Add a paint treatment to limit the amount of paint you need to use, but choose a color that has some contrast to the original wall color for greater impact. Something bright is fun, and it makes sense to use a color that will complement existing elements in the room. You might also want to paint some of the furniture.
Next, treat the bed since it is probably the largest piece in the room. You can keep the sheets, and simply purchase another flat sheet to stitch directly to the underside of the existing comforter, rather than making an entire duvet cover, then just flip it over.
Since individual flat sheets, especially twin size can be purchased for just a few dollars, pick up some extras that match or coordinate with the one used on the comforter and make new, simple window treatments. Use any leftover fabric to recover existing accent pillows.
So far you will have spent about $50.00 yet you will have already treated the largest elements in the room, which make the greatest impact.
Next, add a throw rug or a runner in a fun color to break up the flooring. Then, pick up a few cute, colorful accessories, such as knick knacks and picture frames at a discount store and sprinkle them around the room. Fill frames with children’s artwork or favorite photos.
These are great low cost ways to update a tired room or to make a child’s room feel a bit more grown up without having to replace everything. Your children will like the new look and you’ll be happy with the look and the amount of money you saved.
