Sister Thompson pointed out that a stable family has children who know who they are and where they are going. They have direction and purpose in life. In a dysfunctional family the children are floundering and without purpose. They do not have values that direct them where to go.
Sister Thompson points out several things that can help us be better parents. She emphasizes reading to your children and teaching them the scriptures. She mentions showing your love to them by hugging them and expressing your love to them in words. She also emphasizes the importance of being patient. She encourages parents to study “The Family: A Proclamation to the World.”
Sister Thompson mentions that we can have help in raising our family. She speaks of the importance of extended family and sisters in Relief Society supporting each other. She also emphasizes the importance of putting our families first, since they are so important. Sister Thompson also taught the importance of following the teachings of Christ. This will help us in every aspect of parenting.
