Relief Society: Service Enrichment Night

You may want to form a service enrichment group. This is a great way to provide social opportunities for your sisters, as well as help others. You should choose a regular time for this group to meet. You may choose to have this group meet during the day instead of in the evening. You should also meet at a set time every month, so that the sisters can plan their schedules around this.

You can do the same service each month or offer your service to a wide variety of groups in your area. Many groups have things that need to be sewn together or assembled, and will provide the supplies if you can simply provide the people to do the work. You can look into opportunities at your local women’s center, hospital or food bank.

You may also want to look at the different projects that are available at the church’s website. The materials that you collect, make and donate will go to help those in a crisis throughout the world. This is a great service that the church provides, and it would be wonderful to help out in some way.

You may want to include those who cannot come to the service enrichment groups because they work or are homebound. You can ask them to complete sewing or crocheting projects if they are able. They may be able to help by coordinating things over the phone. You can also include the younger mothers by having childcare available for the sisters who do want to attend.

When we give service together, it draws us closer together. In addition to the monthly service enrichment group you should still have at least one service project a year that the all of Relief Society sisters have a chance to attend. Additionally you may want to sponsor a Relief Society temple night, since that is a wonderful way to give service as well.
