Relief Society: Supporting the Enrichment Committee

Tonight was our quarterly Enrichment meeting. It was a lot of fun, with a great Polar Express theme. We had tickets, boarded a train in the gym, and received candy. There was even a conductor that shepherded us to the various stops along the way. As I was at the activity enjoying the company of the sisters of the ward, I realized how much goes into the preparation of each of these activities.

I used to serve on the Enrichment committee, and there really is a lot of work that goes into each activity. There is planning, setting up, cleaning up, food preparation, contacting instructors. Most people do not realize the extent of work that each member of the committee puts into it.

Home, Family and Personal Enrichment is a blessing to every member of the Relief Society. It provides a place to learn, a place to feel the spirit and a place to socialize with other members of the church. It is important that we, as members of Relief, show our support to those that work so hard on our behalf.

It is also important to realize that with the changes that have been implemented regarding enrichment meetings that the quarterly meetings are important to attend. Without the meetings being every month, it can be difficult to remember to attend. Additionally we do not need to attend the other enrichment activities if it is not convenient or of interest to you. It is important to find balance with family time and church time.

Similarly we can show support to all those in our ward who serve. As we read our lessons, attend activities and help when asked, we are supporting and sustaining those who serve on our behalf. Others will show you the same support when you serve in the church.
