Back pain is something I have struggled with for years. I used to think that exercising would only worsen my back pain. I will admit that when I finally got into an exercise routine it did take a little getting used to. But then I reached this point where back pain rarely happens.
When my back pain does kick up, it is usually because I have stopped exercising for a couple of days. So I have definitely learned that exercise relieves my back pain.
I recently read that some people are afraid of pain so they don’t exercise at all. However, if you start off with gentle activities you will notice the pain begin to lessen. As your pain lessens you can then begin to increase your activity level. If you choose to not exercise then you are facing a loss of flexibility, endurance and strength. That will only lead to greater back pain.
Some of the best exercises for back pain include stretching and strengthening exercises. Aerobics and yoga can also do wonders for your back. I have personally found yoga to be the best way to combat back pain.
Believe it or not, even walking can reduce back pain. That is because you are strengthening muscles in your lower back. Walking also increases the circulation in your body which can help. Many times back pain is a result of stiff, tight muscles in not only your back but your legs as well. With walking you are able to stretch those muscles.
Don’t let back pain keep you on the couch. It will only get worse. If you want to relieve your back pain then do it with exercise. This way you are not only alleviating back pain, you are giving your whole body a total workout.
Remember to start off slowly. You will be very surprised at how quickly back pain can become a thing of the past.
