Remote-Control Blinds: Another Remote to Find (Lose)

With all of the remotes in my house (six I believe) I can only find one or two at any given moment. They disrupt my days and disturb my nights because I sometimes count them instead of sheep when I can’t sleep. Now they have come up with something else that seems wonderful but can’t be because it requires the storage and use of still another remote. I’ll tell you about it anyway because these blinds are truly a work of technological art.

These blinds are especially useful for windows in hard-to reach areas, you know where you can’t vacuum or reach the cat when it figures out it can avoid medication by hiding in a place that you can’t fit into. (And they call them dumb animals!) They work well with skylights, high windows and windows behind counters or bathtubs and these motorized shades do not compromise existing décor in any way. The 12-volt tubular motor utilizes a multi-button remote control that has a memory I would wish on all of my debtors. It allows for setting electronic limit stops, remembers 3 pre-set positions and allows for a “preferred” setting as well.

There are unseen and perhaps even unthought of advantages in purchasing motor-controlled window coverings. The shades last longer than the other kind because without the manual pulling and tugging, there is less wear and tear associated with use. A press of the button on the remote (if you can find it) will open, close or partially close the blinds. Smarthome features these blinds and they come in a wide array of colors and sizes as well as three options for the percentage of light allowed through, including total blackout for those who always “want to be alone” with Greta Garbo.

A built-in radio receiver powers the shades and commands need not be pointed directly at the shades to execute them. They will open, close or stop at any point in between at the whim of a finger and without any back talk. (There are no teenage motorized shades yet.) Each remote controls the shades of up to four windows in any room. (If you plan to do this throughout your house, I can only wish you good luck.)
