Whenever we can reuse something, we save money. Plus, you can always recycle it down the road, once you have exhausted all of its reuse possibilities.

Compact disks: A quick way to use old compact discs is to paint them or decorate them and hang them as holiday ornaments. or, you can use them as coasters. A while back, I wrote a complete article about reusing CDs and DVDs. You can read it by clicking here.
Containers: Common plastic containers that are used to hold dairy products, such as yogurt, margarine, sour cream, ricotta and more, are wonderful for storage of other items, from cookie dough and herbs to bolts and screws. You can also use these cups and containers for play items in the bathtub or sandbox.

Egg cartons: Use the egg carton wells to hold craft or finger paint. Sow seeds in the egg carton wells. Break up the Styrofoam ones and use it as packing material. Use the egg cartons to store delicate Christmas tree decorations, jewelry or golf balls.
Envelopes: Use those return envelopes you get in your junk mail to mail letters. Just put a label over the existing address. Used envelopes can be used to carry and sort coupons or hold receipts and rebates. Use the envelopes as scrap paper. They are the perfect size to hold a grocery list. One of the uses I find for junk envelopes is to use them for all of those forms, lunch money and notes that must be sent to school.
