Here is a challenge for you. Find at least one thing in your home that you can reuse. Wash it out, fill it up, craft with it, use it in place of something, or turn it into something else. Need some ideas? Check out this list in our continuing series on ways to reuse what you already have.
E
Eyeglasses: Have your optometrist office tint the lenses for a small fee, and you’ll have brand new sunglasses! You can also remove the lenses and use the frames for a Halloween costume or dress up box. Keep them for messy work, such as painting or sanding. Remove the screws and save them so you won’t have to buy that little eyeglass repair kit when your current pair breaks.
Eyeglass Cases: Whether they are soft or a hard clamshell, the cases can be worth saving. You can save them to use with your next pair of glasses, of course. Use the case as a pocket protector. Use the cases to store pens and pencils on your desk. Slip your cell phone in an old eyeglass case to protect it.
F
Fabric Dryer Sheets: There are so many great uses for these, as you may have seen in previous articles. Here is a quick round up of uses. You can use them in drawers, on hangers and in trash cans or shoes to keep everything smelling nice. Used dryer sheets can be used to dust your house. Attach them to your Swiffer Dry Mop to dry mop the floors.
Film Canisters: Not many people still use film canisters, but yet I always seem to come across them pretty much every where I look. If you have a stash of film canisters, put them to good use to store small items, such as screws, pins, beads and more. Fill a canister with quarters and place it in your child’s backpack for emergency use. Use the canisters to mix up small amounts of paint for crafts. Use the canisters to hold aspirin in your purse or pocket (make sure to label it carefully).
