Review of EconoGreen’s Trash Bags

Not long ago, Amelia from Jig-A-Loo sent me an email asking if I could like to review their newest product, EconcoGreen Plastic trash bags for this blog. I was sent a nice selection of trash bags – large kitchen bags, tall kitchen bags, and lawn and leaf bags.

Of course, I haven’t had a chance to use the lawn and leaf bags, but we did use the large and tall kitchen bags. They looked just like the regular trash bags we use and, as the letter Amelia sent me said, they were “strong, tough, and flexible.”

What makes these bags so different from regular trash bags? First off, they are made from 100 percent recycled plastics. Also, EconoGreen’s bags are 100 percent oxodegradable. This is done through an additive that, when exposed to enough oxygen, breaks down the carbon-carbon bonds of the plastic, which reduces the strength and molecular weight of the bag. When done, the decomposition process leaves no residue or toxins that will harm the environment or animals.

One of EconoGreen’s pages states that its household bags and other products (wet/dry vac liner bags, and drop cloths) are “Greener, stronger, affordable – that’s what EconoGreen Plastics is all about.” Some people don’t like to go green because they feel that some green products are of lesser quality or too expensive, but I loved the EconoGreen bags. They were definitely green and strong and priced reasonably – 30 kitchen trash bags are only $4.99 and 20 lawn and leaf bags are only $7.99. All EconoGreen products bear the EcoLogo certification logo. EcoLogo only certifies products that meet the most stringent environmental standards.

The EconoGreen bags can be purchase online at the company’s web site or at The Home Depot, which has formed a partnership with Jig-A-Loo. Be sure to check out EconoGreen’s Compare and See page which compares their bags against traditional paper and plastic bags.
