I love snacking. Snacking can be a good if you make the right choice. Bad choices in this area can blow your diet or cause you to gain excess weight. Sure we can always grab an apple or a celery stick but sometimes the craving calls for a bit of fun and a different kind of crunch. We can compromise and eat two potato chips but stopping at two may not happen and we run into the excess weight problem. There are plenty of 100 calorie snack packs on the market but many contain high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oil, and/or fake sugars. I try my best to stay away from all three.
So is there a snack that is all natural, low in fat and calories, and tastes great? I am jumping for joy to tell you there is! Sensible Portions has no preservatives, no trans fat, no artificial ingredients and tastes great. I know, I just sounded like a commercial and I do apologize. You must know that I could not wait to write this review. These snacks are like manna falling from the sky.
So what qualifies such high praise? Well, let me first tell you which products I was graciously given to sample.
Items I Sampled with My Family:
Potato Straws: Salt and Pepper and Sweet Barbecue
Apple Straws
Chocolate 100 Calorie Packs: Cinna-Swirl and S’mores
Veggie Straws: Lightly Salted and Rosemary and Olive Oil
Pita Bites: Garlic and Chive
Reasons I love Sensible Portions:
This is a low calorie, low fat, all natural, no trans fat, great tasting way to satisfy a craving.
I would choose this snack based on quality and taste over high fat snacks.
Every member of my family of six enjoyed sampling the snacks. Some of us even took more than our sampling size when no one was looking.
When I say every member I am including my ultra picky…I mean particular…husband and toddler.
My favorites were the Pita Chips, Veggie Straws Rosemary Olive Oil (highly recommend) and Potato Straws Salt and Pepper.
The only one my family agreed was the least favorite was the Apple Straws. My toddler ate most of them but the rest of us disliked the sweetness. Now, keep in mind I do not like apple flavored things. Love apples, not things flavored or made from apples. I know, I’m a bit strange. The Apple Straws tasted exactly like eating an apple but a little sweeter. I was not surprised my family did not like the Apple Straws much so this has nothing to do with the product. I do think it would be great to keep on hand for toddler or someone who desires a sweet snack. When I am in a crunchy snack mood, I crave salt not sugar.
