Could it be that Rihanna is actually heeding Oprah Winfrey’s advice?
The talk show queen devoted an entire show to domestic violence last week and followed up with another episode yesterday. Now, according to reports, the “Umbrella” singer, who was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend Chris Brown last month, may be taking a break from her tumultuous romance.
Winfrey, along with a litany of her celeb guests, urged Rihanna to take a cooling off period from Brown so they could “heal themselves.” While there’s no evidence that Rihanna actually watched Oprah’s shows, it appears that she is heeding Winfrey’s advice.
Numerous publications are reporting that the hit singers are spending quality time apart. Rihanna is reportedly going solo in New York bonding with friends and working on her next career move, while Brown is doing some traveling of his own and putting the finishing touches on a new album.
A source tells German website Bild.com, “Chris and Rihanna are on opposite coasts right now. They are taking a break.”
Some speculate the “break” was designed to coincide with Brown’s next court date. The 19-year-old faces almost five years behind bars if he’s convicted of the alleged assault. He’s due in court for his arraignment next month.
LIAM NEESON MOURNS HIS BELOVED WIFE
A solemn looking Liam Neeson took to the streets of New York City last night to pay tribute to his beloved wife Natasha Richardson.
Friends and family members, including Richardson’s mother, Vanessa Redgrave, surrounded Neeson as he attended a moving tribute to his wife last night. Theaters on Broadway dimmed their lights for a minute in honor of the “Maid in Manhattan” star, who died on Wednesday from head injuries sustained during a freak skiing accident.
Among the A-list stars coming out to support Neeson were close friends Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick. The power couple was seen hugging Neeson as he joined the crowds, which lined Broadway to pay their respects to Richardson.
The Tony Award-winning star is also being honored by the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where Richardson studied her craft. Staff members there say they plan to launch a scholarship fund in her memory.
