RootsTech is one of the biggest genealogy conferences that genealogists can attend. It is hosted by FamilySearch, and both genealogists and those interested in genealogy related technology should check it out. If you register now, you can get the “Early Bird” discount.
FamilySearch hosts the RootsTech conference every year. The one held in 2013 will be the third annual RootsTech. It will take place at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. This conference involves information about genealogy and the technology that genealogists can use to do their research. It is definitely a “Big Deal” in terms of genealogy conferences.
Those of you who wanted to attend RootsTech 2012, but missed out for whatever reason, should consider getting ready for RootsTech 2013. It is going to be held on March 21 – 23, 2012. The cost of attending will be different depending on how many days you want to attend, and how, exactly, you want to participate.
There currently is an “Early Bird” discount for those who buy a Full 3-Day Pass or a 3-Day pass for their New “Getting Started” classes. The price of each of these will go up as we get closer to the days the event will be held. Frugal genealogists will want to take advantage of the limited time discount.
The Full 3-Day pass gives you access to absolutely everything that RootsTech 2013 has to offer. It currently costs $149 (thanks to the “Early Bird” discount). If you don’t have time to attend all three days, you can buy a One-Day Only Pass. This gives you full admission for one day, only, and it costs $89.
If you are a student, you can buy a Student 3-Day Pass. This option makes it much easier for students, who are often on an extremely limited budget, to attend all three days of RootsTech 2013. You will be required to show your Student ID in order to buy a Student 3-Day Pass.
They are doing something completely brand new at RootsTech 2013. It is called the new “Getting Started” 3-Day Pass. It cost $39 (with the “Early Bird” discount). This pass gives you access to over 30 classes that are designed for people who are beginning genealogists.
If you cannot attend all three days, there is a “Getting Started” One-Day Pass. It costs $19, and gives you access to a selection of fundamental classes that will help a beginning genealogist get started.
What if you aren’t incredibly interested in genealogy, but, you would like to check out the technology at RootsTech 2013? You can do that if you buy a Developer Day Pass. This costs $89. It gives you access to a full-day technology program that is designed just for developers. It will take place on March 22, 2012.
