Rosie vs. The Donald vs. Barbara

Okay, enough already – please! It seems that every morning when I awake and turn on the news, Rosie O’Donnell or Donald Trump is on, slurring the other. This whole feud just does not even make any sense to me!

Now granted, I am not a big fan of either Rosie or Donald. And now, they have managed to drag Barbara Walters into the feud. I am even not 100% certain how this started (and please correct me if I am wrong), but I think started it when Rosie posted comments on her web blog before Christmas. It was a response to Donald making the decision to let the current Miss USA, Tara Connor, retain her title despite her underage drinking. Rosie posted this on her blog (please note that I removed one explicit word):

a young girl in nyc
meets a pimp
he cons her into a life of illusion
she works for him

no fun – no **** – no future
she is owned
when she sneaks out –
to party the night away
he freaks

he roughs her up a bit
shames her in front of the others
teaches her to behave
for his own benefit

I honestly did not think Donald was that harsh on Tara. I mean, after all, underage drinking is not only a problem in this country, last time I checked the laws, it was illegal as well.

Apparently, Rosie did not expect Donald to react, or maybe she did and did not care. I liked Rosie much better when she was funny and kept her opinions to herself.

Anyhow, in return, Donald decided to get down and dirty by saying Rosie was a “big, fat pig,” a “bully,” and was “cracking up.” I think I even read he said he would send one of his friends to “steal” Rosie’s longtime girlfriend, Kelli Carpenter O’Donnell. Wow, that was hitting below the belt.

So what happens next? Rosie made fun of Donald’s comb over in her blog. On the air at “The View”, she then said he “Left the first wife, had an affair, left the second wife, had an affair. Had kids both times, but he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America” and finished it with “Donald, sit and spin my friend.”

Donald responded with “Rosie’s a loser. A real loser.” And he also threatened to sue her for her words. He went on to say Barbara Walters had told him that Rosie would not be on “The View” for very long and he should not “get in the mud with pigs.” He went on to say Walters send him a letter, saying that working with Rosie on “The View” was like “living in hell.”

The next day, on “The View”, Barbara Walters never mentioned a name, using only used “he” and “that man,” but basically called Trump “that poor, pathetic man.” Rosie said he was obsessed with her and she was glad his show tanked (the Today show is reporting it didn’t by the way – they said it was up in the ratings as is “The View”). Barbara squelched rumors of Rosie leaving “The View” by saying on air that “nothing could be further from the truth.”

Donald has now said not only is Rosie a fat loser, but Barbara Walters is “a liar” and “They didn’t even have the courage to mention me by name. It was sad to see Barbara read her statement off a cue card.”

I love a good celebrity catfight as much as the next person, perhaps even more so, but this whole thing makes me feel like I’VE been in the mud with the pigs. I forgot to mention that somewhere along the way, Donald’s daughter Ivanka got involved in the feud as well.

I don’t know if it is just a ratings ploy or what, but at least in my case, it isn’t working because I am not watching The Apprentice or “The View”! What do you think? Was Rosie right to throw out her opinion about the Miss USA situation or was she in the wrong? Should Donald have responded so harshly? Was Barbara, a respected journalist, doing the right thing to get in the middle of this bash of the big-mouthed titans?
