Rosie O’Donnell is headed back to TV.
A little more than a year after she got into a wicked war of words with her fellow co-host on ABC’s “The View,” and subsequently walked away from the daytime chatfest, the outspoken actress turned craft queen is closer to sealing the deal with NBC to star in her own show.
According to reports, execs at the peacock network are game to give O’Donnell a chance to strut her stuff on a series that has been compared to “The Carol Burnett Show” and “The Ed Sullivan Show.”
O’Donnell’s primetime deal is not set in stone, nor has the format of the show been finalized. Insiders have been throwing out hints that the new show might be broadcast live on a quasi-Broadway stage featuring a variety of entertainment acts from comedy to drama to music.
Fox News is reporting that O’Donnell has been pitching her primetime variety show since 2002. Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly recently announced that there is a possibility that O’Donnell might host the show from a darkened Broadway theater.
While the feisty comedienne continues to negotiate with brass from NBC her BFF Madonna is working on something new herself.
The Material Girl is reportedly planning to renew her wedding vows with her filmmaker husband Guy Ritchie in a Kabbalah ceremony next month.
According to a London newspaper, you can forget about claims that the pop diva and her hubby’s marriage is on the rocks. The Sun is reporting that the couple will host a Shabbat Nachamu event to prove to family and friends they are still very much a couple.
A source tells The Sun, “It’s a very important event for them, and they want everyone to know they are still in love.”
The special ceremony will reportedly take place at the pair’s British country estate, and Madonna is sparing no expense. The singer is reportedly hiring two rabbis to fly in from New York to officiate.
The vow renewal is supposed to coincide with the celebration of the pop star’s 50th birthday, according to The Sun. Madonna reaches the mid-century mark on August 16th.
