Royal Wedding Goes Bust

There’s still hope with William and Harry around, but the lavish nuptials between the queen of Mexican media, Salma Hayek and her French billionaire fiance, Francois-Henri Pinault is officially kaput, according to the actress’ rep.

Reports confirm that the couple has called off their 16-month engagement.

Ordinarily the news would hardly be worth a blog; however, the two share a 10-month-old daughter, Valentina Paloma and they had planned to wed in a luxurious tropical extravaganza estimated to be worth more than $3 million later this summer.

So does this mean the wedding is off, but the two remain a couple? Hayek’s rep refused to comment (which means their splitsville) and the actress and her former fiancé are remaining just as tight-lipped.

The raven-haired beauty met her beyond rich mate in May 2006 and announced their engagement in March of 2007, not long after Hayek got pregnant.

Frankly, I’m not surprised the two have decided to call it quits. A few months ago the New York based Hayek appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and revealed that she rarely saw Pinault, who lives in Europe. She also made the comment that women these days don’t need to get married because they can support themselves without the aid of a man.

Double snap!

Apparently, Hayek’s philosophy on single motherhood is influencing her BFF Penelope Cruz.

The unmarried Spanish star recently revealed that she is considering adopting a child “very soon.”

The actress, who is dating fellow Spaniard Javier Bardem, tells W magazine, “It’s something I’ve thought about a lot.”

But before she signs up for motherhood Cruz says she wants to follow in the footsteps of her former boyfriend Matthew McConaughey (who recently became a parent himself) and backpack around the world.

The 34-year-old sizzling hot movie star says, “I’ve never done that. I’ve traveled to so many countries for work, and I realize when I leave that I haven’t seen anything.”

Cruz says once she’s done exploring the world she would love to devote her life to raising children.
