This is the time of year when stores start having weekend-long sales, in the hopes of attracting customers who are thinking about shopping for holiday gifts. Some of these sales end when the weekend is over. Other deals will last a bit longer.
November just got started a few days ago, and already, it feels like Black Friday is almost here. Retailers this year are not being shy about letting people know when they plan on opening for the biggest sales event of the year. Some stores are having sales weekends, and starting good deals, right now.
Hallmark is having a “Holiday Open House” event. It started on November 4, 2011, and will continue through November 6, 2011. This three day sale includes Hallmark Holiday Recordable Storybooks, The Peanuts Gang Plush, and Hallmark boxed Holiday Cards, (to name but a few items). If you purchase any Hallmark Recordable Storybook you can get the Hallmark Confections Chocolate Advent Calendar for $7.95. (The usual price for the calender is $12.95).
Two keepsake ornaments are on sale this weekend: “The Story of Christmas Advent”, and “Twas the Month Before Christmas North Pole Countdown”. You can register to win the “Countdown to Christmas Tabletop Figurine”, which is an exclusive tabletop version of the 2010 keepsake ornament of the same name. It is valued at $124.95.
Kohl’s is having a Power Shopping Sale this weekend. Today, November 5, 2011, Kohl’s will be open until 11:00 at night. On Sunday, November 6, 2011, the store will be open until 9:00 at night.
Pajamas for women, men, and kids are 40% – 50% off. Their entire stock of Trim-A-Tree from St. Nicholas Square is on sale for 50% off. This means items in this collection will be on sale starting at $1.99 (and going up to $149.99). All toys at Kohl’s are already 10% to 40% off. This weekend, the Power Shopping Sale gives you an extra 20% off on toys (on top of the original discount).
Speaking of toys… do you know what your kids are hoping to get for Christmas this year? If you go to the Toys R Us Facebook page, and click “like”, you can uncover 80 pages of “Huge Savings” and information on hundreds of toys that you can only find at Toys “R” Us. This is a great way to take a look at this year’s version of “the Great Big Toys “R” Us Book”.
Barnes & Noble has a “Exclusive Fan-Only” coupon for 50% off one print book. The coupon can be used in stores, or online. In order to get this coupon, you have to click “like” on the Barnes & Noble Facebook page. The coupon will have a short expiration date, so you need to use it right away.
After you click “like”, something on Facebook will pop up that asks you to give Barnes & Noble access to your basic Facebook information. Yes, that means the Barnes & Noble company wants to get access to your name, profile picture, gender, networks, user ID, list of friends, and “any other information that you have made public”.
The corporation also wants access to your “Likes, music, TV, movies, books, and quotes” as well. It is up to you to decide if the coupon is worth giving Barnes & Noble access to pretty much your entire Facebook page, forever.
