Same-Sex Celebrity Couple Carrying Each Other’s Babies

Okay, see if you can follow this one:

Iron Chef Cat Cora is pregnant with a baby boy… and so is her wife Jennifer.

The Food Network star and her wife are already parents to two sons, 5-year-old Zoran and 2-year-old Caje.

Zoran and the baby Cora is currently carrying are from Jennifer’s eggs and the same sperm donor. Meanwhile, Caje, who was carried by Jennifer, is from Cora’s eggs and a sperm donor. However, in Jennifer’s current pregnancy, both women’s embryos were implanted, so the biological mother is unknown… and the couple wants to keep it that way. According to reports, Jennifer and Cat do not plan to conduct DNA testing to determine who the baby’s biological mother is.

Got that?

My head’s spinning, so let’s review:

Forty-one-year-old Cat is pregnant with a baby boy; she is due in July.

Meanwhile, Cat’s 37-year-old wife, Jennifer is also pregnant with another baby boy; she’s scheduled to deliver in April.

When all is said and done the couple will have four sons under the age of five in their home with the two youngest born just three months apart.

Interestingly, the same-sex couple says they wouldn’t want it any other way.

“It’s really crazy,” Cora admits. “We decided that having them a year apart is harder than having kids as infants together.”

So there was a method behind their madness.

Cora says with her hectic work schedule and the older boys’ schooling it worked out better for the couple to have two infants at once rather than wait for the baby to turn one before trying to get pregnant again.

I honestly can’t say that I have ever heard of similar situation:

Zoran and Caje have moms who are pregnant at the same time. Meanwhile, Cat and Jennifer have one another to commiserate with regarding swollen ankles, late-night cravings and frequent bathroom breaks. Then, the newborns will have a brother in the same grade (though, probably not the same class) until they graduate high school.

Not something you deal with every day.
