San Diego – Life’s a Beach

Southern California’s beaches are a testament to beauty and outdoor pleasure. If you’re looking for a great place to visit the beach, San Diego offers you plenty of beach fun to go with the world-class zoo located in Balboa Park. If you’ve never been to San Diego, it’s a fantastic place to take a family vacation and spend more time outdoors than in.

There are 50 continuous miles of beaches to choose from in the area. Among the choices are Black’s Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and more. If you’re vacationing with a pet, Ocean Beach is a great place to stop. The area is about a mile long and dog owners can let their canines off the leash to romp and play in the sand and surf. You have to clean up after them and you have to be able to control them because they don’t want dogfights – but it’s a great place for you and your kids to romp with the family pup.

Pacific Beach has a great cement boardwalk that runs parallel to the beach. You and the kids can enjoy playing in the sand or bike riding along in the warm sun. Mission Beach is a great deal of fun all the way around. There are great beach side cafes where you can lunch as well as plenty of shops to pick up souvenirs from. Sandcastle building is popular and there’s always the ocean, where sunsets can take your breath away.

I love San Diego and I’m planning a trip there this summer. I can’t wait to take my daughter to play in the sun, sand and surf. Just be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen and drink lots of water – then soak up all the fun. Take breaks from the beach to visit the zoo and other areas in Balboa Park. We’ll talk about Balboa Park more this week.
