Perhaps the tabloids have it wrong this time. After reading repeatedly that the 12 year marriage of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick is on the rocks, there is some good news today. Through their reps, the couple announced that they are expecting!
The statement read, “Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are happily anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate. The entire family is overjoyed.”
Parker had dated Robert Downey Jr. from 1984 until 1991. After that, she dated John Kennedy Jr. for several months. Broderick was engaged to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off co-star Jennifer Grey briefly in the ‘80s. He and Parker married in 1997 and the couple has one child, James Wilkie, 6.
A friend told Entertainment Weekly that the couple has been trying to have more children, but after realizing that just wasn’t going to happen naturally, turned to a surrogate.
Michael Douglas is making a return to the big screen in a sequel of Wall Street. He will reprise his role as Gordon Gekko for director Oliver Stone. The role won Douglas a Best Actor Oscar back in 1987. Also in talks to be in the movie is Shia LaBeouf, playing a young trader. Word is that the plot will be about Gekko’s life after jail and set within today’s economic turmoil. Not coming back for the film is Charlie Sheen.
A spokesman for 20th Century Fox, Gregg Brilliant, said he felt the sequel to the original film, which coined the phrase “Greed is good!” would be especially timely and relevant given the international economic crisis. He said, “We need to keep the story line under wraps, but it’s literally ripped from today’s headlines. It’s going to be very big and very cool.” The movie is set to start shooting this summer.
