In my previous post, I started sharing some ideas that I had for my fall decorating, and ideas about spending no money at all. Of course I recognize that I may need to pick up some additional items. So, in order to stay frugal and keep that money in the bank, there is a bit of smart shopping to do to get what I want and like without too much of the spending involved.
Here are some of my favorite stores for fall decorations at a fraction of the cost.
The first is Jo-Anns fabrics. If you happen to have one of these around you then run right to it. They have a lot of great fall decorations that get heavily discounted starting the first week in October. There are also 40 and 50 percent off coupons in the paper. If you don’t have one of these stores, you can always check with your local craft store to see if you can spot some great deals. Michael’s Craft Store tends to be a bit expensive for me, but they do offer 40% off coupons, so if you are patient and use one of these coupons a week, you may get some great deals.
Dollar stores are great sources of inexpensive decorations, especially when it comes to artificial mums, leaves and other fall plants and flowers. You can also pick up some candles in fall colors for very little. Group the candles for the best effect. The Dollar Tree usually has the best quality selection available that I have seen.
The Marshalls/Homegoods store is also a wealth of fall decorations. I spotted a Laura Ashley fall table cloth there for only $14.99 (The original price was $79.99). You’ll get the best selection at this store, but make sure to check back week to wee as new merchandise comes in all of the time.
