Save Money on Summer Camp

camp Summer Camp? Didn’t we just make it to spring? while it is true that the calendar still says March, summer camp season is in full spring, well as it relates to registration, that is.

Summer camps are now taking registration for their programs. If you want to be able to provide summer camp for your child but not pay a lot, then read the following post. I’ll share some ways to get the most for your money and cut your summer camp expenses while still providing a great experience for your child.

Look into early registration. The earlier the spots are taken for a camp, the better it is for the camp, so many will offer discounts for early registration. There is an invention day camp that our eldest son is just jumping up and down about. If can save $50 by registering earl and another $5 by registering online.

Take advantage of sibling discounts. Rather than sending the kids all over the place, see if there is one camp that will accommodate the needs of all of your children. Usually a camp will give you a sibling discount. If you don’t see one, make sure to ask.

Free or low cost camps can be found through church groups. There are many vacation bible school day camps out there that are free or very low cost ($5 or $10) for kids. These camps can be a fun learning experience for your children without the expense of a traditional camp.

You can also host your own camp in your neighborhood. Get together with other parents to plan out a co-op camp. Each family hosts the children for a day and activities are planned out in advance. This gives the kids the chance to socialize in a camp setting, while the only expense relates to any supplies that you need to provide for arts & crafts or other activities.
