Did you know one of the most popular times to visit Las Vegas is Thanksgiving?
Personally, I don’t see Sin City as the ideal backdrop for a multi-generational turkey feast, but that’s just me. And apparently I am in the minority because according to travel experts, Las Vegas is a hot spot during the November holiday.
One of the reasons so many people flock to Vegas during autumn is the savings offered by the mammoth resorts that call Sin City home. Another major incentive besides the reduced hotel rates is the free entertainment offered to visitors of all ages.
For example, you don’t have to shell out a single dime to take in the awe-inspiring sights associated with the volcano at the Mirage. Every hour on the hour from dusk until 11 p.m. you can view the resort’s multi-million dollar volcanic eruption that sends massive fireballs 12 feet into the air. The attraction also includes amazing music, choreography, waterfalls, and plenty of smoke and fire.
If the volcano doesn’t light your fire, then head over to the many water shows offered on the Las Vegas Strip. The Fountains at Bellagio feature a spectacular display of synchronized water and music. The quarter-mile-long lake in front of the world-famous resort houses the fountains that propel rushing water up to 460 feet in the air. In addition, the fountain shows at Caesars Palace are also free and fabulous. The stunning displays use massive Greek-inspired animatronic figures to recount the story of Atlantis with fire and shooting streams of water.
Another attraction that is completely free to Vegas visitors is the conservatory at the Bellagio. The tourist magnet features spectacular natural displays consisting of thousands of individual plants and flowers in the resort’s 13,000-square-foot atrium. The floral extravaganzas change to reflect the seasons and highlight the area’s most popular specimens.
Finally, if you have a sweet tooth, but don’t have the cash to keep it satiated, check out Ethel M Chocolates. Located about seven miles from the Strip, the candy factory offers free admission and free samples. In addition, you get a behind-the-scenes look at all the candy-making goodness.
