Have you gone shopping for the Fourth of July celebrations, yet? If you look carefully, you’ll be able to spot some great ways to save on all of the supplies that you’ll need. Of course, you can always just read this post to get a heads up.
Tiki Torches and Other Decorations
Check out your local dollar stores for inexpensive titki torches, flags, festive tablecloths, and more. If you happen to have a Christmas Tree Shop in your area, definitely stop there. Jo-Ann’s Fabrics is another great place for discounted decorations.
If you waited until now to shop, you’ll be ahead of the game anyway. Stores will be ready to discount anything Fourth of July, so they won’r be left with the goods after the holiday.
Ice Cream
I don’t know if it is true where you are, but I’ve found some ice cream wars going on in several places throughout the country. The grocery stores seems to be competing for your Fourth of July dollars when it comes to ice cream. There are big discounts on everything from store brand to name brand ice cream. Don’t forget to use your grocery coupons and match up these sales for more savings.
Simple Food
Fortunately, most picnic Fourth of July food can also be pretty inexpensive. Hot dogs and hamburgers won’t break the bank. To save a lot, avoid the pre-made salads, such as potato salad. Instead, get the ingredients and make your own. Mixing your own drinks will also save you a bunch. If you want to save on a cake, see if the bakery has any that were ready made but never picked up. If so, you can save anywhere from 50-75 percent off the price of an already festively decorated cake. Otherwise, try purchasing a plain sheet cake and then decorate it yourself with strawberries and blueberries to create something special but inexpensive.
