Halloween is right around the corner. For many children, this news is extremely exciting! This excitement can inspire young children to talk incessantly about Halloween Does this describe your child? If so, you might want to shop at Barnes & Noble this weekend. They are having a “Buy one, get the second one for 50% off” sale on Children’s Halloween books this weekend. That should distract your child for a while!
One of the great things about Halloween books for kids is that books can be enjoyed over and over again. If your child is a reader, he or she can enjoy the same book over and over again for as many times as desired. Some of the more amusing titles might make excellent books to read right before bedtime. Are you having a Halloween party for your child? Why not hand out some fun Halloween books as part of a “treat bag”, instead of candy? If you are a parent who has concerns about the amount of Halloween candy that your child will be collecting this year, perhaps you can convince him or her to trade some of that candy for an interesting Halloween book? It is worth a try.
The “Buy one Halloween Book, Get One 50% Off” sale is going on now, and ends on October 25, 2010. If you are interested, you have to walk into a Barnes & Noble this weekend. The website will also have the sale, but not for as long as the stores will. Of course, the book that is less expensive will be the on that you are able to get 50% off of. Choose from a selection of books to fit all ages of kids. There are Halloween picture books, Halloween books that include a favorite character from a picture book series, Halloween board books for the little ones, and even some Halloween related books for kids that are just learning how to read. Tweens can find Halloween books that are just for their age group, that are included in this sale.
Need some suggestions about which ones to get? Here are a few of my favorites:
Max’s Halloween by Rosemary Wells
Max the bunny is going trick-or-treating with his sister Ruby. The problem is that Ruby wants to carry all the candy. How can Max get his candy back? This is a cute, not scary at all Halloween book, that little kids will enjoy. This is a board book with sturdy pages that little kids will enjoy.
The Hallo-Wiener by Dave Pilkey
This is a really funny book! Oscar is a dachshund, who gets fun of because he is short. For Halloween, his mother makes him a hot-dog costume to wear, which makes the other dogs tease him some more. Oscar redeems himself, however, by being brave when the other dogs were afraid. Pilkey is the Captain Underpants series of books. His books about Oscar the dachshund will make elementary school aged children giggle.
