Saving Money on Books

Obviously there is a really easy way to save money on books. Don’t buy them. Instead borrow them from the library or from a friend. Well, some of us are totally addicted to books, and must have them filling our shelves. Yes, I am one of them. So how do people like us save money on book buying and still be able to enjoy the books?

There are several places I have found to be the best for purchasing books, new or used.

Amazon is the biggest place online to purchase books. Everyone knows who Amazon is, and has probably purchased something from them at some point. The best part of all is that people like you and I can go on there and sell our own books that we no longer need, use or want. Well, this has its benefits when you are a book buying addict. You can get some books for mere pennies plus the cost of shipping. And most used books are in really good shape, but you are able to browse for all types of books from New to Like New to Poor if you so desire.

Half is probably the next biggest place online to purchase books. They are an eBay company, so you know they are good. The entire concept is extremely similar to Amazon’s used books. The only difference I found is that often their prices are not quite as good. There is no fee to list the items, but Half does take a commission on books sold. This won’t effect you if you are looking to expand your library however.

Textbooks.com is a valuable resource for those still in school or college. They offer free shipping on all orders over $25 and they will buy back the same books. They have the largest collection I have seen and really awesome discounts across the board. This is the best place to purchase those school textbooks.

Abe Books is a newer finding for me. This has been my source for most of the month of December as I get familiar with it. They boast a super easy to search database for a whopping 13,500 book sellers. It’s awesome because everything I have searched for, has come up which means they might just be on their way to being real close to the first two. You can get textbooks, rare books, and any bestseller you are looking for. You will find huge bargains on all of these books and sales are constantly ongoing. This is a great find.
