Saving Money on Your Next Vacation—Book Early

Timing is everything in life and that goes double when you are planning a vacation. I try to provide as many cost-saving travel tips as possible in this blog and regular readers know that high on the list of advice is to book early. Doing so almost always guarantees cheaper seats—whether by sea, air or land.

To prove my point I found a great deal to the Greek Islands that allows you to skip the crowds and the sky-high prices. The catch: Book now travel later. The bargains are good now but you won’t be taking your trip until the fall.

Take a look:

Right now Friendly Planet is offering a fabulous eight-day Greek adventure priced from $1,599. The fee includes round-trip airfare from New York to Athens, plus seven nights aboard the sleek easyCruise Life (with breakfast and lunch or dinner daily)and a night of lodging in Athens before departing. The itinerary covers visits to the Greek islands of Kalymnos, Kos, Samos, Mykonos, and Paros, as well as the town of Bodrum on the Turkish coast. The catch: The low price is valid for one departure, on September 12th, if you book by June 6th.

Meanwhile, Virgin Vacations is currently offering an amazing 9-day Greek odyssey for $1,599. The trip departs in September and the price covers round-trip airfare from New York and hotel stays on the tourist-friendly islands of Mykonos and Santorini — plus you’ll get a tour of legendary Athens as well. Daily breakfast and transfers, including the ferries between the islands is also covered in the fee.

Finally, if you are looking to tour Greece in luxury check out Homeric Tours 6-night special for $2,129. The deal is good for travel in October and includes round-trip air from New York, three nights (plus breakfast) at a swanky hotel in the heart of Athens PLUS a four-day cruise around the Greek islands (in an inside cabin, with all meals and entertainment). Ports of call on this journey include Mykonos, Patmos, Rhodes, Santorini and Crete, plus Kusadasi, the gateway for Ephesus in Turkey.
