Saving Money on Your Next Vacation—Early Bird Specials

In a previous blog I mentioned that one of the easiest ways to save on your family’s next vacation is to book early. If you see a great deal, don’t spend days mulling over whether or not you can get a better bargain. In most instances rock-bottom deals are scooped up as soon as they are made public.

The following deals have only been advertised for a couple of days so there are still spaces available (I just checked); however, that doesn’t mean that they will still be there tomorrow.

If the following travel packages sound inviting and are in your budget I would suggest booking a spot immediately.

BOSTON

Lodgings in Beantown are going all out to attract summer travelers. In this deal the luxurious Liberty Hotel, which is situated near Beacon Hill is offering guests two travel packages.

The first is the “Esplan-aaahhh-de Weekend Fun” package, which includes one night’s luxury accommodations in a “Fantastic” room (you can choose between a king-size bed or two double beds); a bicycle rental from the hotel; complimentary use of Frisbee, bocce ball, or Wiffle ball sets; and discounts on sailboat or kayak rentals for just $385 per room per night.

The second is the “Swing! Batter, Batter!” package, which features one night in a “Spectacular” room with amazing views of the lights at Fenway Park, a Boston Red Sox 2007 World Series Collectors’ Edition DVD set, a Wiffle ball set, and two tickets to the “Baseball As America” exhibit at the Museum of Science. Rates start at $425 per room per night.

Both deals are good from June 15-Spetember 1, 2008.

The early bird also gets the deal when booking cruises sailing along the Pacific coast. Several tour companies are offering special prices for fall odysseys along scenic West Coast shorelines.

For example, Orbitz has a deal on a dinner and dance sail aboard Norwegian Star. The one-night voyage departs from Seattle on the afternoon of September 20th and ends up in Vancouver the next day. For just $99 (interior cabin) you can dine in one of the many onboard restaurants before dancing the night away in one of the ship’s clubs. Oceanview units on this particular cruise are being offered for just $109; balconied rooms go for $129; and a suite can be yours for $169.

In addition, CruisesOnly is offering a six-night sailing from Vancouver to Los Angeles that departs in September on Norwegian Star. Rack rates for this journey typically start at $599 but with this early-booking offer you can get an interior cabin for just $449. The cruise includes stops in British Columbia; Astoria, Oregon; and San Francisco, plus one entire day at sea.
