In a previous post I encouraged you to take advantage of post-Easter sales at your favorite scrapbooking or craft store. My local scrapbooking supply shop slashed seasonal merchandise by 50 percent yesterday. Whereas I was able to score a bunch of bunny-themed products on clearance, I also gained some items I can use in generic layouts as well.
One of the buys that allowed me to get the most bang for my buck was a package of double-sided cardstock. While the specialty scrapbooking paper features a solid pastel color on one side and a patterned pastel shade on the other, I don’t have to use it exclusively on Easter-themed page designs. The muted shade of paper will also look fabulous on birthday, anniversary, tea party, princess or baby shower layouts.
Double-sided cardstock is a frugal scrapper’s dream product, as you are essentially getting two sheets of paper for the price of one. The two-in-one scrapbooking product also takes the guesswork out of designing for those who struggle with color coordination. For example, you could add pizzazz to a page design with little effort by cutting strips of your double-sided paper to use as a simple page border, and then use the reverse side as part of a frame for images you also plan to feature on the same layout.
Another way to use double-sided cardstock is to create a small folded mini album that you can fill with index prints. Or, you could use the multi-functional cardstock to add a flap to a layout if you need more space to journal or you want to jot down photo captions. For those of you who simply want to showcase both aspects of the specialty paper, consider folding up a corner of the double-sided cardstock to reveal a sample of the secondary color or pattern or use a paper punch and layer the embellishments in a pattern that shows off both sides of the paper.
