My brother and his family are planning a trip to Mexico next month. Right now my brother is busy organizing air travel, passports and hotel accommodations, while my sister-in-law is working on a vacation scrapbook.
Well, I’m sure she’s doing more than just planning her Mexican-themed layouts, but for the purpose of this post, we’ll just stick to what’s relevant.
So, I get an email the other day with an attached photo that showcases a rainbow of new scrapbook paper, plus some wild looking hunter green jungle print cardstock.
“Guess who’s pre-designing scrapbook pages?” read the subject line.
Hence the topic for today’s blog.
If you too are planning a south of the border summer vacation, then consider the following layout ideas courtesy of my sister-in-law:
Potential Page Titles:
*Wasting Away Again in Margaritaville
*Mucho Amigos
*Let’s Fiesta
*Time for a Siesta
*Viva Mexico!
*Hola! Mexico!
*Que Pasa? (What’s happening?)
*No Habla Espanol (I don’t speak Spanish.)
*Buenos dias (Good day)
Spicing up your Mexican layouts is a breeze thanks to Jolees Boutique, and K & Co. Both offer incredible sets of stickers and embellishments that will make your vacation pages pop. My sister-in-law already purchased several packages of 3-D stickers in the following designs:
*Tropical flowers
*Palm trees
*Mexican flag (green, white and red)
*Chili peppers
*Pinatas
*Cactus
*Sombrero
*Tropical drinks
*Sand and waves
*Burrito
*Taco
If you prefer to embellish with stamps, check out the selection offered by Travel Expressions and Stamping Station. Another idea is to forgo traditional scrapbook embellishments and use mementos to fill the pages. You can use maps of Mexico in lieu of regular paper or consider featuring postcards instead of die cuts. If you are planning a beach vacation to Mexico, then collect some shells and sand to add to your layouts. Not only do they add an extra dimension to your page designs, but they cost a lot less than stickers, stamps and die cuts.
