Say “Thank You” with Postcards

It has been a while since I have written about the important of saying “Thank you” to customers, clients, and prospects. It can sometimes seem daunting trying to figure out the best and most efficient way to say “thanks” and show appreciation without breaking the bank. Postcards can be a handy and cost-efficient way to do just that very thing.

I recently received a postcard from a business I frequented that had a picture of the proprietor standing in front of her business on the front, and then a brief handwritten note of thanks on the back. I thought it was clever, personable, and obviously it didn’t cost too much or take too much time. Postcards—especially those with photos of you, your business or your products—can be a great way to say thanks and promote your business at the same time.

With the cost of postage going up, more and more businesses are turning to e-mail and looking for cheaper ways to contact customers and prospects. Postcards are still rather affordable and with increased technology, it can be relatively cheap to use a digital photo or other artwork and produce a nice mailing piece. You don’t have the added expense of an envelope and you might even be able to save money by getting a large quantity printed at one time. You can then use the postcards for various purposes, in addition to using as “thank you” notes (reminders, advance notices, etc.). Plus, a postcard has a small area for writing which makes for a quick, yet personal, handwritten message. You can then just print off mailing addresses from your database.

Saying “Thanks” is an important part of customer cultivation, but can get time consuming and expensive. Consider postcards as a way to get the job done in a personal, yet professional manner.
