Scarlett Johansson Weds and Uma Thurman Hooks Up with Furry Friends

Scarlett Johansson is now officially Mrs. Ryan Reynolds.

The two good-looking Hollywood stars tied the knot in Canada this weekend, according to Johansson’s rep.

Reports say the intimate wedding took place Saturday evening at a remote wilderness resort outside Vancouver. Guests included Scarlett’s mother and brother. Few details on the ceremony were released, though that should come as no surprise since the actors are not big on publicizing their private lives.

In fact, 23-year-old Johansson and 31-year-old Reynolds typically go out of their way to throw off reporters and the paparazzi. The couple, who have been dating since Spring 2007, hid their romance for a good six months before appearing in public together.

Likewise, when they confirmed their engagement in May it was only because reporters dogged the actress after she flashed a three-carat diamond ring estimated by some to be worth about $30,000 at the Met Costume Ball Gala.

When asked when the two planned to tie the knot Johansson remained coy even up to just a few weeks ago when she replied: “We’re just enjoying our time… we’re just recently – very recently – engaged. So, you know, we’re just taking it easy. And no big plan yet. But it’s a good time and we’re just … enjoying our time to be young and engaged. I mean, I’m 23… there’s no reason to rush into it. Everything feels very natural and relaxed.”

Yeah, so much for not rushing into things.

UMA HOOKS UP WITH FURRY FRIENDS

Actress Uma Thurman has been a bit more forthcoming than Johansson… at least when it comes to discussing her upcoming role with the Muppets.

Thurman just announced that she is joining “Law & Order” alum Jesse L. Martin, Whoopi Goldberg, Tony Sirico, Steve Schirripa, Richard Griffiths and Madison Pettis, along with Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppets gang in NBC’s holiday special “Letters to Santa — A Muppets Christmas.”

According to producers, “Letters” tells the tale of how the furry friends mistakenly lose three letters en route to Santa Claus, which triggers a race against time to bring a happy Christmas to the kids whose wishes were lost in the mail.

Thurman will reportedly play Joy the ticket clerk for the North Pole Airlines and will also appear as Santa’s flight attendant. Meanwhile, Martin will play a postal worker who does a singing and dancing number with Kermit and co. in the opening scene.
