The wind has been howling so badly this week and into the weekend. Our neighbors and ourselves have lost large tree limbs and some trees, too. One large tree cracked in two and fell on our property from the neighbor’s side. We heard the large cracking and watched it out of window yesterday. Other limbs, too stressed from the high winds pummeled the roof of our home, causing us to jump every so often, as we went about our day. Every time I went outside to put out the garbage or get the mail, I felt as though the sky was falling.
Yesterday, we went out shopping. We needed a few groceries and medicine. I also stopped at a Target to pick up some cookies and cereal, to sooth my sick family. A woman who was carrying shopping bags, one in each hand, was literally whirled around by the force of the wind. Words escaped people’s mouths as soon as they were uttered, whisked away on the strong wind.
This morning, the wind has died down and left with it a sharp cold. I left the little ones in the house with my ill husband and took my son to the end of the driveway for school. Bundled up as he was and resembling the Pillsbury dough boy, my son still could not stop shivering. I ran back into the house for a comforter and wrapped him up like a burrito until the bus came to whisk him to school.
Still, as scary as this all was, it is nothing compared to the tornados being experienced in the south. My fellow blogger, Sherry, knows about this first hand. She has been experiencing some scary moments and has seen the devastation first hand. Fortunately, she and her family are well. You can read about it here in her latest blog.
Meanwhile, my thoughts and prayers go out to Sherry, her family and all who have been affected by the tornados.
