Scented Candles for the Holidays

I’m still enjoying the pumpkin pie scented candles I purchased for Thanksgiving. They aren’t overpowering, but strong enough that the scent is obvious even when unlit. Just the way I like it.

When lit, the fragrance is rich and warm. I can’t wait to start picking up other varieties. I love candles. Candles are one thing I just can’t seem to get enough of, because they are affordable, so simple to use, and they are the perfect way to add color, scent, and warmth, to any area of the home.

They are terrific accessories any time but I really like them during the holidays to help set a warm and festive mood.

Here are some of my favorites:

Christmas Tree Scent

If you use an artificial tree, there’s nothing better than a candle that smells just like a Christmas tree. The name might use words like pine or fir, but sniff around until you find one that you like. It adds an extra element.

Cake, Cookies, Cobbler, or Pie

Any scent with this kind of name will remind you of homemade treats baking in the kitchen. What could be more inviting? Sugar cookies, apple pie, vanilla cream, banana bread, peach cobbler, birthday cake… Mmmmm.

I also like candles that smell like peppermint candy or cinnamon sticks. Mint hot cocoa is also nice and spicy scents can be very charming. These scents just seem to fit the season, even though they work any time of year.

Citrus

If I could bottle a pink grapefruit so I could walk around inhaling the fragrance, I’d be happy. While pink grapefruit isn’t one I can find often, it is my favorite scent. When I can’t find any form of grapefruit, I’ll generally opt for lemon, orange, or a combination citrus scent. Very fresh and uplifting.
