Scented Crafts

These ideas make cute home decorations or nice gifts that your kids can make for teachers, friends, or family members. Your children will enjoy making them and giving them and the recipients will enjoy receiving these items. If you choose to display them at home, your kids will be able to proudly show off their handiwork.

Wooden Spoon Scented Sachet

Items Needed:

  • Average size wooden spoon
  • School or craft glue
  • Potpourri
  • Small doily or 8″ square or round piece of lace or tulle
  • Ribbon (wired ribbon works best, but satin ribbon is okay)
  • Craft paint (optional)

You can use a wooden spoon as it is, paint it to match your kitchen decor, or paint it white to complement any decor. Apply a thin layer of glue to the mouth of the spoon, and cover the area with potpourri. Cover the spoon with a doily, lace, or tulle, and tie it in place with pretty ribbon. Glue a dried flower or two from the potpourri mixture onto the ribbon bow, if desired.

Doilies Lace and Ribbon

Variations of this project:

You can use a large spoon (and larger doily or fabric). You can also make a set of sachets using two or three different sizes of spoons.

Leave out the wooden spoons entirely and make simple sachets by placing potpourri in the center of a doily or a piece of lace or tulle, pulling the ends towards the center, and tying it closed with ribbon.

Make potpourri containers from votive candleholders. Simply fill the votive holders with potpourri, top with doily, lace, or tulle, and tie in place with ribbon.

Sew two doilies or pieces of lace together to make a pillow sachet. Sew three sides closed, turn right side out, fill with potpourri, and sew bottom seam closed. Sew ruffled lace around the edges or decorate with ribbon.
