School Boys Test Movie Facts

Teaching is never a boring job. Each day leads to something new. Some of the things are fun and exciting and others are less than thrilling. However, each day is an adventure of its own. One can never be shocked at what a student might do or say next.

I can say that the same must go for the job of being a school nurse. I can only imagine half of what a school nurse hears and sees throughout her day.

A couple of fourth grade boys in Indiana helped add a little bit of excitement to both their teacher’s and the nurse’s school day.

While the boys at Jackson Elementary School were out serving both their school and their country on flag duty, they decided to also try out a science experiment. Instead of simply raising the flag as their job called for, the boys tested out the screen writer’s truth in movies and stuck their tongues to the flag pole.

Indeed the writer’s were correct. Your tongue will stick to a metal pole on an ice cold day! The boys were left tongue tied right to the flag pole.

The boys admit that they were mimicking a scene from A Christmas Story. To make things even more ironic, the setting of the all time favorite Christmas movie also took place in Indiana.

The school nurse was summoned and the boys were eventually freed from the pole. The nurse notified the parents and the boys were left with bleeding and wounded tongues.

No major damage was done and the boys, along with the rest of the student body, likely learned a very valuable lesson about mimicking what is seen on television.

The boys were left with sore tongues and they hope that ice cream will quickly ease their pains.
