There are so many different things that Christians must fight against as well as stand strong for in the world today. Satan has countless tools with which to try to temp Christians. Some of these temptations weaken a Christian’s faith, while other temptations could make a Christian completely fall away from the Lord. I believe that Satan has a strong grip in our education system, teaching that things like evolution (macroevolution) are true. Science teaches that the earth is billions years old, yet that is not what the Bible teaches. But what tools does the average person have to fight against evolution, besides their firm belief in the Word of God?
Thankfully, there are Christians working in this area. I have been introduced to two excellent resources that Christians can use to convincingly fight against these false ideas.
The first resource is called Apologetics Press. Apologetics Press does many different things for Christianity; however, one of the many things they do involves science. They look at scientific evidence for the creation, for the flood, as well as many other different scientific issues. They have publications dealing with these scientific issues. The first is an adult publication, Reason and Revelation, and the second is a children’s publication, Discovery. Reason and Revelation is a highly scientific publication, not what I would consider light reading, but still full of wonderful information. Their website (www.apologeticspress.org) has an extensive library of invaluable articles.
The second resource I have come across is another publication which is called Think. It is less formal than Apologetics Press’s Reason and Revelation, but still deals somewhat with scientific issues. For instance, they have had recent issues dealing with things like stem cell research and dinosaurs. I have found Think to be easy reading, but also very educational with great information. I would highly suggest subscribing to any or all of the publications I have mentioned here. They can be a great tool to fight against Satan’s snares.
