Last night I asked my brother what he thought about the friendship scrapbook I made which features his wife and several of my other BFFs.
His reply: “A friendship scrapbook? Is that what you’re calling this sappy love fest?”
What? Too many rainbows and unicorns?
Actually, I know exactly what prompted his sardonic comment, and it’s not all the awesome photos I embellished with hearts and XOXOXOs. My older sibling simply doesn’t appreciate a heartfelt friendship quote when he’s forced to read it.
Or, maybe it was the sheer volume of emotional prose that got to him.
Regardless of his opinion, I don’t regret peppering my page designs with riveting friendship-themed quotes. I found most of the famous phrases on websites, such as Quote Garden, The Friendship Page and Quoteland. However, you could also include quotes from your favorite movies, TV shows, or songs.
I am an equal opportunity quote user. It doesn’t matter who uttered the phrase, as long as the words complement the photos they share page space with. Here are some of my favorites:
“The better part of one’s life consists of his friendships.”–Abraham Lincoln
“A friend is one who knows you and loves you just the same.”–Elbert Hubbard
“A man’s growth is seen in the successive choirs of his friends.”–Ralph Waldo Emerson
“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.”–Winnie the Pooh
“A loyal friend laughs at your jokes when they’re not so good, and sympathizes with your problems when they’re not so bad.”–Arnold H. Glasgow
“Fear makes strangers of people who would be friends.”–Shirley MacLaine
“Friendship… is not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.”–Muhammad Ali
“Friends are relatives you make for yourself.”–Eustache Deschamps
“A good friend is a connection to life – a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world.”–Lois Wyse
